Warwickshire is set to kick off their 2024 County Championship season at Edgbaston with a match against rivals Worcestershire in early April. The Bears' schedule opens with a showdown against the Pears from Friday 5th to Monday 8th. This encounter promises to be an exciting start to the season as Worcestershire secured promotion back to the First Division last summer.
The Bears have an initial advantage with their first two games being held at home before heading to the south coast to face Hampshire. As for the T20 Blast campaign, Durham will be the first opponents at Chester-le-Street in late May, followed by the Bears hosting Notts Outlaws at Edgbaston the next day during the Blast Off event.
The One Day Cup is scheduled to begin at the end of July, with a trip to Essex. Notably, several matches have yet to be assigned a venue, as the club aims to secure suitable outgrounds to bring the action to various locations across the county.

Stuart Cain, Bears chief executive, expressed the club’s desire to expand its reach beyond Birmingham by potentially establishing outgrounds in Leamington, Warwick, Rugby, Coventry, and Nuneaton. The objective is to ensure that Warwickshire represents the entire county and not just the city of Birmingham. This move is seen as crucial in keeping the concept of counties relevant and engaging for future generations.
Cain also emphasized the importance of outground cricket in maintaining the county concept and alleviating congestion at Edgbaston. He envisions the possibility of organizing a Warwickshire festival spanning 10-14 days, featuring multiple games and social events to benefit the hosting communities.
The fixtures for both the County Championship and T20 Blast promise an eventful season for Warwickshire, with the potential for outground matches adding further excitement and outreach opportunities for the club.
