Kingsbury Green Academy Students Shine at Calne Festival

Pupils from Kingsbury Green Academy are celebrating their success as two of their GCSE art students have officially sold their artwork at the Calne Music and Arts Festival. The festival provided a platform for artists of all ages and experience levels, and the students took this opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity. The pieces exhibited were created as part of their GCSE Art course and incorporated a variety of techniques, resulting in captivating and thought-provoking artworks.

Despite not all the exhibited pieces being for sale, two pieces were sold to discerning buyers - a photographic manipulation piece by pupil Leon and an edited photo of a butterfly by classmate Hollie. Other noteworthy works included an oil pastel portrait by Katie, an oil pastel self-portrait by Hollie, and a biro piece inspired by photographer Jason Travis, addressing issues of female safety and Sarah Everard.

Leon, now in Year 12, expressed his surprise at selling his artwork and was pleased to learn that the buyer’s children were particularly drawn to his piece. Katie shared her motivation for exhibiting at the festival, citing the opportunity to gain inspiration from other artists' work.
